Meet Karen, the Heart Behind Paws by the Shore

Hi, I’m Karen - the face (and paws!) behind Paws by the Shore. Based in Heysham and proudly serving Morecambe, Lancaster, and surrounding areas, I created Paws by the Shore from a deep love for dogs and a passion for providing the kind of care I’d want for my own furry companions.

With years of experience in home dog boarding, dog behaviour support, and event chaperoning, I’ve built Paws by the Shore to feel like more than just a service, it’s a second home for your best friend. Whether it’s a tail-wagging holiday stay, a spot by your side at your wedding, or support with those not-so-pawfect behaviours, I’m here to make life with your dog easier, calmer, and a whole lot more joyful.

Paws by the Shore is proudly home-based, and your dog will stay with me and my own two four-legged assistants, Dela and Mia. Together, we create a loving, safe, and stimulating environment that feels just like home. From beach strolls along the Heysham coastline to sofa snuggles and enrichment games, every dog is treated like family here.

I also offer 1-1 consultations for first-time dog owners who aren’t sure where to begin. With so much information out there, getting honest, tailored advice can make all the difference, and sometimes save you from falling in love with a breed that doesn’t match your lifestyle.
